Head Professor and Master Alan Teo started Renzo Gracie Fort Lee with the purpose to help people. To find that common thread of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in each person. He and his staff want to help students achieve a level of excellence - but a level of excellence not just in martial arts but in life.
Professor Teo began his martial arts journey 24 years ago with the practice of Kung Fu. He then learned Bruce Lee's Art of Jeet Kune Do. Instructor Alan Teo is now a master of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by studying directly under Master Renzo Gracie.
Renzo Gracie Fort Lee / TEO BJJ takes the practice of BJJ and uses it to help their students. Professor Teo believes in being a mentor like his father and having mentees like his students. He believes that when you learn something, the knowledge of that needs to be preserved and shared.
The people he has met through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have provided numerous positive experiences. He has been blessed to meet so many beautiful people that have helped him selflessly.
Professor Teo and his staff are impressed not just by the black belts and the superstars of martial arts, but also by the white belt who was once timid and came out of their shell to blossom into that awesome student!
The question Professor Teo asks is "Did I live a life worth living? Did I help someone?"
At the end of the day, the instructors at Renzo Gracie Fort Lee work with students to set goals and to help students achieve those personal and Jiu Jitsu goals. At Renzo Gracie Fort Lee, they want to find the "how's and why's" through Jiu Jitsu to achieve their own unique goals. This inspires Professor Alan Teo and his staff to teach a whole new generation of Martial artists.

At TEO BJJ, and when we are "old and gray we will have been blessed to meet the people we have along the way. Not just the black belt or the superstar, but also the white belt who was timid and came out of their shell.
Have we lived a life worth living?"
